Bittsi vs IDEXX Neo
Neo is IDEXX's simple, affordable cloud system for smaller and newer practices, which makes it the closest comparison to Bittsi in the IDEXX line. What each vendor publishes about price, users, contract, data, payments and AI, checked on their own pages.
Facts checked on the vendors' own pages, September 3, 2026 · written by the Bittsi team · sources at the end
- You are committed to the IDEXX-branded stack and want IDEXX Payments and the terminal bundled by the same vendor as your lab.
- You want a 15-day anonymous trial before you talk to anyone.
- You want the smallest possible system: scheduling, records and reminders, and nothing beyond that.
- You want the hospital floor, anesthesia, dental, inventory, payments, messaging and the pet-owner app in one system, not a starter product you will outgrow.
- You want AI in the record from day one: Scribe for the note and the invoice, Sage for briefs, medication checks and close-out, priced per seat on a page.
- You want messaging and the pet-owner app included rather than a $249-a-month add-on, a written export promise, and a named person moving your data in 14 days.
One system. Nothing to integrate.
Everything below is built into Bittsi and priced on one page. Enter it once and it is everywhere it needs to be: the charge posts and inventory moves the moment a treatment is logged. The only integrations are the ones only a lab or a card network can provide: IDEXX, Antech and Bittsi Pay.
Records and charting
Structured SOAP with templates and dictation; vitals and weight trends; vaccines and certificates; prescriptions, refills and labels; consent forms; the invoice drafts itself from the note.
Also: How the visit flows →Hospital floor
A status board with TV mode and shift handoff; live treatment sheets with due times, owners, protocols and fluid alerts; Crash Card dosing by weight with a CPR recorder.
Anesthesia and dental
Vitals charted every five minutes from the monitor with the drug timeline beside them; Triadan dental charts that bill the procedures when completed.
Also: Dental chart →Inventory and purchasing
Batch-level tracking with automatic FIFO, recall trace in about 30 seconds, purchase orders grouped by supplier, cycle counts and COGS per line.
Money
Estimates that convert in one click, Bittsi Pay inside the invoice, next-business-day funding reconciled to invoices, QuickBooks and Xero export.
Clients
Two-way SMS, MMS and email in one thread per patient, reminder cadences that stop on confirmation, and the clinic-branded Companion app.
Also: Companion app →Reporting
Financial, appointment and inventory dashboards that refresh as charges post; shareable links, scheduled PDFs and exports.
AI in the record
Scribe writes the note and the draft invoice from the conversation; Sage briefs every appointment, flags interactions and lab trends, and reconciles close-out.
Also: Sage →Side by side, from the published record

| Laboratory and analyzers | IDEXX Laboratories, IDEXX Imaging and Antech Diagnostics built in, both directions: order from the record, results and images land on the visit and post their charges to the invoice; one-click activation from the admin panel. Your lab contract stays yours | Antech, IDEXX Diagnostics and Zoetis, with reference-lab and in-house results in the record[11] |
| What needs integrating | One record: charting, scheduling, estimates, invoicing, inventory, payments, messaging, reporting and the pet-owner app are views of the same data. Log a treatment once and the charge posts and inventory decrements in the same action. The only integrations are the ones only a lab or a card network can provide | About twenty published partners, including PetDesk, Vetstoria, Weave, Otto, Vetcove, Vetsource, Trupanion and CareCredit; "many customers choose to use Neo alone with just a few integrations"[11] |
| AI | Sage reads the whole chart: an overnight brief for every appointment, lab trends across panels, medication safety checks, close-out reconciliation of what was documented against what was billed, answers with citations. Scribe writes the SOAP note and the draft invoice from the exam-room conversation. Nothing is sent, billed, prescribed or signed without a clinician | AI-Assisted Notes, released in 2025: recordings converted into formatted SOAP notes[7] |
| Payments | Bittsi Pay inside the invoice: tap, dip, swipe, Apple Pay and Google Pay on the terminal; interchange-plus with the network cost and our margin on separate statement lines; next-business-day funding reconciled to invoices; refunds in-line; QuickBooks and Xero export; PCI-DSS Level 1 processor | IDEXX Payments: invoices sent directly to the terminal; hardware included; rates not published[12] |
| Client communication | Built in: two-way SMS, MMS and branded email in one thread per patient; reminder cadences at 30, 7 and 1 days and day-of that stop when someone confirms; post-visit summaries and post-op check-ins drafted from the chart; mass campaigns; and the clinic-branded Companion app for pet owners | SMS and email reminders and templated discharge instructions built in; two-way engagement through Vello[8][9] |

What IDEXX Neo does well
- The most transparent pricing in the IDEXX line: the Canadian site publishes the base price, the three users it includes, the per-user rate and the per-location rate, which very few vendors do.
- A published 15-day free trial.
- First-party integrated payments, IDEXX Payments, with the terminal hardware included and invoices sent straight to it.
- Honest about its scope: IDEXX says plainly that many Neo practices run with only a few integrations, and positions Neo at newer and smaller practices rather than specialty hospitals.
- Strong built-in training: Neo University inside the product, in-app walkthroughs and regular webinars.
- Hosted on AWS with automatic backups, a contractual 99.8 percent monthly availability commitment and explicit customer data ownership.
What a switch actually looks like
The same plan for every clinic that moves to Bittsi, with a date and an owner on each step. It is written into the Switch Guarantee.
- 01Before you sign: one fixed quote and a sandboxWe size the migration from your current system and load a sandbox with your own records. You click around your real patients, not a demo clinic.
- 02Days 1 to 3: exportYour data comes out of the old system while it keeps running. Nothing changes for the front desk.
- 03Days 3 to 8: mapping and importClients, patients, visit history, prescriptions, reminders and balances, mapped field by field. Anything that cannot be mapped cleanly is archived read-only and labelled.
- 04Days 8 to 10: verificationEvery record checked against the source, row by row. You get the report.
- 05Days 10 to 13: training by roleShort sessions for the front desk, technicians and doctors on the parts they touch, not an all-day shutdown.
- 06Day 14: go-liveOn a lighter day, with your launch lead on call. The old system stays readable for reference until you retire it.
Questions clinics ask about IDEXX Neo and Bittsi
Is Neo cheaper than Bittsi?
In the United States nobody can tell from Neo's website, because no US price is published. On the Canadian site Neo is $355 CAD a month for three users plus $26 CAD per further user, before Vello at $249 for client engagement. Bittsi starts at $249 a month on Foundation with one veterinarian and unlimited staff included; Standard is $379, or $249 with Bittsi Pay. Reminders, messaging and the pet-owner app are included on both. For a one-doctor clinic with three staff the base prices are close; add client communication and Bittsi is the lower bill.
Neo has a free trial. Does Bittsi?
Not an anonymous one. We do something we think is better for a switch: before you commit we load a sandbox with your own clinic's data, so you evaluate the system on your real patients instead of a demo database. It takes a short call to set up.
How hard is it to move from Neo to Bittsi?
One fixed migration quote before you sign, a sandbox with your own data, clients, patients, history, prescriptions, reminders and balances moved and verified row by row, and go-live in about 14 days with role-based training. IDEXX's terms say you own your data; ask them in writing how it is returned, because the published general terms do not say.
Does Bittsi have anything like Neo University?
Training comes with a person: role-based live sessions during the fourteen days, recorded for later hires, and a named launch lead who answers questions through opening week. Neo University is self-serve; if your team prefers to learn alone from videos, that is a fair point in Neo's favour.
Which one has better AI?
Different jobs. Neo added AI-Assisted Notes in 2025, which turns a recording into a SOAP note. Bittsi has Scribe for documentation, Sage as a clinical assistant that reads the whole chart, and Anesthesia AI, each priced per seat on the pricing page. If you only want dictation into a note, both do it; if you want the AI to work with the record, that is what Bittsi was built around.
Can I keep IDEXX Payments if I move?
Bittsi's card processing is Bittsi Pay, with interchange-plus pricing, a free terminal and next-business-day funding. The $249 Standard rate assumes Bittsi Pay is your primary processor; without it Standard is $379, and Foundation is $249 either way. Your IDEXX diagnostics relationship is unaffected either way.
